Diggspace at Social Now 2024

Written by Nicholas Pinto on May 19, 2024
Diggspace presented it's solutions to tackle Cablinc's problems, a fictitious company created for the event.

On may 16th and 17th, I was fortunate to give a presentation alongside my collegue Gustavo Leitão and to be in the crowd at SocialNow.

I start by saying that Ana Neves knows how to assemble an event unlike any I have attended. First, there is Cablinc, a fictitious company with the "normal" challenges and issues that many companies face, such as internal communication, gossip, and lack of transparency. The vendors, including Diggspace, were invited to demo their solutions as if they were already working to solve Cablinc's issues. It was great to share the stage with MangoApps, Linkers, Hive & FutureWork Studio, and OrgXO.com. Congratulations to Gabriel Petrescu for winning the two main prizes — well deserved, OrgXO.

But the days were not only about the vendors showcasing their products and solutions; they were packed with talks. Here are some of the insights I brought with me:

  • 📢 Andrew Pope: We need to change behaviors; managers should stop micromanaging and being all over the place. Hear the team and let them lead the way, building trust and confidence.
  • 📢 Jaap Linssen: Showed the importance of having and implementing a collaboration strategy. Many companies say collaboration is important and a key factor, but few have implemented a strategy for it. Good and effective communication comes from a good adoption infrastructure that requires ongoing time and energy.
  • 📢 Emily Hinks ☀️: Mischief! People are at the center of it all. The energy put in is the energy that gets out, so unlock potential; facilitation is the key. If we spend more time at work and with colleagues, why shouldn't time at work be more relaxed and enjoyable?
  • 📢 Sumeet Gayathri Moghe: Highlights the magic of asynchronous collaboration. I hope to catch more on the subject by hearing you on O'Reilly on May 28th.
  • 📢 Sharon O'Dea: What a laugh about how to make a company's digital workplace programmes fail. Some of the examples are scary and hilarious but unfortunately real!
  • 📢 Simon Scullion: JOMO, the joy of missing out in a world packed and overflowing with digital communication.
  • 📢 Suzie Robinson: Map your digital workplace, audit your tools, and work through the maze to clearly understand what you use, identify overlaps, and make the most out of it.

And many more.

Once again, I have to thank Ana Neves. 🙏

As I had the opportunity to tell her, I am happy I attended this year's event but unhappy because I missed the previous nine! I really hope there will be another next year! 🤞
